למעט הדברים הידועים, אני רוצה להזהיר את כולם לא לצאת לקצ'קר ללא סיפור דרך מפורט ואמין. אין סימונים על השביל, ולמעט רוג'ומים שמטיילים קודמים השאירו (ולפעמים הם גם מטעים) אין תמיד דרך להתמצא.
רצוי מאד להשאיר פרטים בגסטהאוס שממנו יצאתם, למרות שכפי שהדברים נראים, אין גוף מאורגן שמטפל בחילוצים. בכל מקרה פלאפון זה דבר מומלץ (יש כמה נקודות בודדות שהייתה לנו קליטה - אבל אל תסתמכו רק על זה).

Most often you will not find marked paths on your ways to / from the mountains in North-East Turkey. We, a couple, took the wrong way down the mountain and found ourselves stuck on a steep slope, all night, without being able to progress or go backwards, scared and cold. Unfortunately, phones are not working in all areas, so we could not call our driver (Serdar) from the near by Yusufeli. When we did not show up at the agreed time and place, he called his friends from Yusufeli, two guys who often guide Israeli's and also take them for rafting. These are Mevlut (known as "Chief") and "Jump". They looked for us all night and finally found us around 7 am, then took us safely down the hill, gave us food and took us back to our pension. For our subsequent adventures in the Kackar mountains we were more careful, and decided to take "Chief" as our guide to the Kackatr mountains, and later with Serdar the driver we explored the West side of the Kackar. If you happen to be in the Yusufeli area, consider meeting Chief and his friends (who speak some Hebrew). You may call Chief or send e-mail to [email protected].
