”Chimborazo“

There are buses from Riobamba to another city called Guaranda that pass right below the Chimborazo. You can ask to get off in a place called Arenal, where a road to the refugio splits from the highway. The drivers know the place. There is aparently more than one road from Riobamba to Guaranda, so make sure the bus you take goes through Arenal. For example Flota Bolivar goes there. From Riobamba to Arenal it costs $1.50. (Although on the way back they only asked $1... :/) You don`t have to go all the way to the refugio (8km) unless you plan to climb the Chimborazo. The view of the mountain from the highway is great, if it is not cloudy of course... You can go up the hill a little past the antena, there are vicuñas.
