”General tips for Pai and Chang Mai“
Things to do in Pai:
Chillout, do nothing, eat lotza great food, watch lotza films. Greatest Thai food I ate was at the unbelievably cheap Na's Kitchen.
Waterfalls - 2 charming waterfalls (bike - 80baht per day)
Hot Springs - especially in early morning.
Rafting & Trekking - check out Tham Lod and other caves near Soppong (bats and swifts at evenings).
Nightlife - I liked the live music at Bee-Bop and TingTong DJing.
Chang Mai
A place to stay : The Red Brick. 400baht for an AirCon room. A new building and a nice garden. Not in lonely planet. Quiet, good food, very nice people (es. Katty & Nokky), 5-10 minute walk from the Night Market. Most Taxi and Tuktuk guys know this one. Guesthouse is widely known in Israel for hosting really good trekking tours up north (1/3 days). You could callem and they might come pick you up 053-819275.
Things to do:
Night Market - on the back streets are some good food courts and live Thai shows and Thai Boxing. Big and cheap.
The Sunday Market - huge, extremely cheap.
Cooking Class - 1 to 3 days. A nice experience. I did it with standup comedy Nokky from RedBrick. Excellent.
Massage Class - 3 to 5 days. (havent done it, but Ive heard great reviews in Red Brick)
Doi Suthep - one day ride out to the mountain top temple. Great view down on Chang Mai. On the way you might wanna see and waterfalls and spend some time seeing the White Tiger etc. in the Zoo.
Nightlife - East of the river and at the Old Citys eastern border. Lotsa pubs and bars, some with really good live music.
