”טיפ ללינה באיסלנד“
Hotels are terribly expensive (more than 100 EUR) while hostels and guesthouses might reach a 100 EUR (Private rooms, sleeps 2). I would recommend for those who mind camping (especially due to possible bad weather) or sharing a room with others to actually contact certain camping places who offer private rooms. The options they offer are called“Sleeping bag accommodation” where you get a private room but you may require a sleeping bag (which may be rented to you as well (5-10EUR)) and you share facilities with others (Kitchen and bathroom). As camping sites that we visited were extremely clean and had fully equipped kitchens, we found this a very good alternative 50-70 EUR. Another option some camping places offer is “summer houses”, little private houses for 80 EUR. The last option I can recommend is"Farm Housing" which includes apartments or cabins for prices from 70 EUR. A bit of patience in your search might be worthwhile as there are of course farm houses for much higher prices. We have booked all accommodation a few days in advance or even on the same day with the useful help of the various local tourist information centers.
Needless to say that staying in summer houses or farm houses is nicer than staying at a hostel (which is not necessarily a bad option) and certainly a hotel.
Finally, we stayed 3 nights in private accommodation called in Reykjavik for 4800 ISK inclSvanfridur Ingvarsdottir breakfeast (50 EUR).
