”Bosque de Piedras“
המלצה על ביקור בפארק בוסק דה פיאדרס
The Bosque de Piedras near the city Cerro de Pasco is a huge park with lots of rock formations in all kinds of amazing shapes. There are 11 routes, but only 2 you can do by yourselves, the others you need a guide. A guide costs 10 soles for each route. So you need at least a whole day to spend there, preferably more. Some of the shapes I saw there (I did routes 1 & 2 only): bat, crown, praying bear, the thinking man, snail, dog, turtle, aligators mating, sea lion, kissing couple, cobra, mexican with sombrero, angel, elephant, alpaca, mochiler, condor, frog.
Near the park there is a hot spring called Calera, a few minutes drive, the ride costs 50 centimos.
How to get there: To Cerro de Pasco - a few hours by bus from Lima or from Huancayo. From Cerro de Pasco one block from the bus terminal there are busses, combis and autos that go to Huayllay, take them and asked to get off in the Bosque de Piedras. It is about 1 hour and costs 4 soles in bus or combi and 6 soles in auto.
Where to sleep: I recommend in Cerro de Pasco, it is a relatively big city with a lot of hostels to choose from in any comfort and price level. Another option is in the small village of Canchacucho, which is right at the entrance of the park. There are 2 hospedajes but they are very basic - no sheets, no hot water, so decide if it`s enough for you. Another option is in the town of Huayllay, something like 15 minutes drive from the park - costs 1 sol, a few more hostels to choose but still basic and hard to find hot water.
