USE THE METRO! its safe (i was there and traveled around with my large mochila and my small one - if you have more bags per person it might be a problem) but most of all its cheap as hell! 2 pesos no matter where you go and how many lines you change. Just know when to get off and which direction to go (the directions there are according to the last station in each line). Use it especially if you land in mexico city instead of paying hundreads of pesos to a taxi.
