”Reserva Nacional Tamango“

Reserva Nacional Tamango near Cochrane (in the southern part of the Carretera Austral) is the best place to see Huemul - a type of south american deer and the national animal of Chile, which is an endangered species. The best area in the park to see it is in the open area above the refugio in Cerro Hungaro. Besides from that refugio there is a great view of the amazing lake Cochrane which has a deep blue colour. You can do a trek there or go up ans down the same day. For the lazy it is possible to take a boat part of the way from the entrance of the park.
