Kuntur Wasi is a nice archeological site on the way between Cajamarca and the coast (Trujillo or Chiclayo). It is not well known but it is definitely worth a visit. The site has a temple with monoliths of idols with jaguar faces, and the stairs to the main square has jaguar faces carved on them. In the site museum there are gold crowns with shapes of human faces and jaguar faces. The entrance costs 4 soles, or 2 soles with student card.
How to get there:
Take a bus or combi that goes between Cajamarca and the coast, and get off in Chilete. From Cajamarca it`s 2 hours and costs 5 soles. From Chilete take an auto that goes to San Pablo and get off at the Kuntur Wasi site museum. It takes about 30-40 minutes and costs 5 soles.
