הר קוניו אקאדמי - kunyu shan academy

הבית ספר בהר קוניו נוסד על ידי מאסטר שאולין שהיה שותף בהקמת הבית ספר בעיר סיפינג, אבל עזב כדי להקים בית ספר טוב יותר, וכנראה שהוא הצליח. המקום הזה די פופולרי בין מתאמני הקאנג פו הזרים שבאים לסין, ויש סביב האינטרנט כאלה שמספרים על איך שבאו בהתחלה לבית ספר אחר, אבל אחרי שלא מצאו שם את מה שהם חיפשו, עברו להר קוניו. נדמה לי שזה הבית ספר קאנג פו לזרים עם הכי הרבה תלמידים באופן כללי. המקום יפה מאוד, בשמורת טבע על הר ליד החוף. ליד הבית ספר יש כפר קטן, ואז נסיעה קצרה במונית או אוטובוס מביאה אותך לעירייה יותר גדולה. כשעה נסיעה מקוניו יש את העיר יאנטאי שהיא עיר תיירות חוף כזאת כמו אילת אבל יותר גדולה ומודרנית אפילו, ומתאמנים בבית ספר לפעמים מבלים שם סופי שבוע. למען לקדם יותר את העסק שלהם, המנהלים של קוניו היו רוצים להתגאות בכל הקשרים שיש להם עם משרד החינוך והספורט הסיני, עם משרד החוץ, ועם המקדש שאולין, אבל אף אחד מהדברים האלה לא מתבטא בפועל. כדוגמא, באתר של קוניו מראים לנו תעודה רשמית ממוסגרת נחמדה שהבית ספר הוא היחידי שמאושר על ידי הממשלה ללמד זרים כמו קאנג פו כאילו היו סטודנטים, אבל בפועל גם תלמידי קוניו באים לסין עם ויזה תיירים שחייבים לחדש כל 3 חודשים ולא ויזה סוג X של סטודנטים (שרק דורש חידוש כל שנה). הסגל בקוניו מאוד עוזר עם זה אבל, ומסיעה קבוצות של מתאמנים לעיר עם רכבים כדי לחדש את הויזה מתי שצריך (לאומת בתי ספר אחרים שאולי כן יסיעו אותך או שאולי לא יהיה ברירה אלא לנסוע לבד עם מוניות\אוטובוסים, תלוי במי מהסגל בעל רכב והאם הם פנויים לעשות את זה באותו יום שצריך. אני די בטוח שגם מאלינג מסיעים תלמידים כי הם רחוקים מהעיר והסגל שם אנשים נחמדים, ואולי גם וודאנג אקאדמי מסיעים לפעמים כדי לשמור על תדמית הבית ספר שהכי מאורגן, אבל שאר הבתי ספר גם ככה נמצאים בערים עצמם אז לא צריך הסעות). כל המתאמנים שנמצאים בסין עם ויזה תיירים ורוצים להישאר יותר משנה, יהיו חייבים לפי התקציב לקפוץ יום אחד מחוץ למדינה, לעשות ויזה חדשה, ואז לחזור, כי חוק סין הוא שתייר לא נשאר באדמת סין יותר משנה ברצף. זה זמן טוב למי שיכול לצאת לחופש מהאימונים חזרה הביתה קצת או לנפוש או לטייל באיזה מדינה אחרת, אבל רוב המתאמנים המרוששים, כמו שאני יהיה, בסוף שנת אימונים עושים מה שנקרא "ריצת-ויזה" להונג קונג כדי לחדש אותו ולהמשיך. הונג קונג (גם נקרא סיאנגדאנג או קאולון) נחשב "לא אדמת סין" אז לשם קופצים ברכבת, מחדשים ויזה, ואז חוזרים להתאמן. ריצת ויזה להונג קונג מוודאנג למשל, יכול לקחת עד שלושה ימים, כי הנסיעה לשנגחאי ואז להונג קונג היא הרבה הרבה שעות. מי שמתאמן בקוניו למשל, גם בלי ויזה סוג X, יכול אולי לחסוך את כל הזמן ברכבת כי הבנתי שיש מעבורת שיוצאת פעם ביום מיאנטאי לדרום קוריאה, שהיא גם מקום נחמד לטייל וגם אולי שם אפשר לחדש ויזה ולחזור ליאנטאי במעבורת למחרת.
תנאי המחייה בקוניו הם נחמדים, בערך כמו המצב בכל אכסנייה ממוצעת. יש כמה מאסטרים שונים שמלמדים סוגים שונים של קאנג פו, כולל לא רק שאולין אבל גם סגנונות הדרום של וודאנג. כדאי לשאול את הבית ספר אם היו מאסטרים שעזבו או חדשים שהגיעו, אבל הרוב שאני שמעתי עליהם היו מדריכים טובים. הרוב צעירים שגדלו במקדש השאולין, וביניהם מדריכים שיותר צחוקים וסחבק, או שיותר רצינות ולקרוע לתלמידים את התחת כל יום. מתאמנים שם בנוסח הרגיל של מחמש בבוקר עד ארוחת ערב בשש, עם ריצה, מדיטציה, צורות שאולין, אימון כושר, צורות סגנון אחר, וסאנדה. רוב האימונים הם בקבוצה של כ-15 מתאמנים, ויש ביניהם אוירה של תחרותיות. לא רק שבאימוני הכושר כולם מתאמצים יותר כדי לא לצאת חלשים מאף אחד אחר, אבל גם מידי יום נכנסים לאולם עם זירה וכפפות איגרוף ומתאמנים סוג של לחימה תחרותית בשם סאנדה, אחד על אחד. לא מצפים מתלמיד חדש להחליף בעיטות עם מתאמן ותיק, אבל יכולה להיות באותה הקבוצה כאלה עם רמות שונות וותק שונה, וזה נותן לחדשים מוטיבציה לעבוד קשה יותר כדי להקטין את הפאר ולוותיקים את המוטיבציה להמשיך להשתפר כדי שהחדשים לא יעקפו אותם. בין אימונים החבר'ה הם כן ידידתיים כאלה שקופצים יחד לשחות במפל שליד הבית ספר, אבל בזמן אימון לא מפתיע אם הם עושים אחד לשני עיני נמר. כל בית ספר יגיד על התנאי מחייה שיש אצלם שהם נחמדים, אבל לא לצפות מלון יוקרה, ושהמדריכים אצלם הם מצויינים, ושתלמידים ישנים חוזרים כל הזמן לסיבוב שני כי הם כל כך נהנו מהפעם הראשונה שהיו שם ופקה-פקה-פקה, כי כולם באמת ככה, ולכן לא מסתכלים על כאלה דברים שמנסים לבחור מקום. בית ספר בוחרים לפי מה אפשר ללמוד אצלם, ובאיזה אוירה לומדים את זה. מי שלומדים את מה שהם רוצים בצורה שמתאימה להם כבר פחות שמים לב איך החדר או איך הבניין או איך הכפר הסמוך, כי בעצם הנסיעה הזאת היא להשיג תוצאות באימונים וזה הכי חשוב. לכן לפי אופי אני ממליץ שיגיעו לקוניו כאלה בנים ובנות שמחפשים חווייה של מחנה קיץ ספורטיבי, שיודעים על עצמם שהם יהנו יותר מיריבות תחרותית עם המתאמנים האחרים. שוב אני יגיד שהתלמידים לרוב נעשים חברים בין עצמם וגם עם המאסטרים הצעירים, שיוצאים יחד לטייל סביב ההר ולשחות בנהר ולאכול במסעדה בכפר הקרוב וכל הדברים הכייפים האלה, רק שבזמן שמתאמנים כל אחד עובד ברצינות כמו טאף-גיי שבא לעבוד קשה כדי לנסות להיות ההכי טוב, והאוירה תהיה תחרותית. יכול להיות שפתאום יגיעו מספר של תלמידים וואלה נחמדים חייכנים לגמרי, אבל איך שהאימונים מתנהלים בקוניו, ואיך שהאירופאי\אמריקאי הממוצע שמחפש ללמוד קאנג פו כדי להרגיש חזק ומגניב, תמיד יגרום לאוירה שם להיות לפחות טיפה יותר תחרותית מאשר האוירה בין תלמידים במקום אחר.
למי שעדיין יש כוח בערב, המקום מציע שיעורי שפה מנדרין, שיעורי רפואה סינית, ושיעורי תרבות אחרים. תלמיד לשעבר שם סיפר לי שהטכניקות מסאז' שלמד שם שימושיים מאוד, אבל מבחינת דיקור סיני כל שיעור עוברים על נקודה אחרת, ודורש חודשים עד שיודעים על מספיק נקודות כדי לעשות אם זה משהוא, אבל מי שכבר קרא קצת על דיקור כמוהו לפני שהגיע, זה בהחלט עזר לו להבין טוב יותר. בסך הכל בית ספר שאפשר ליהנות בו להשתפר בו ללמוד בו הרבה, ולחזור הביתה עם מלא זכרונות חדשים. הדבר הוא שפשוט הבית ספר הזה הוא יותר יקר מהרבה אחרים, וגם כדי שיהיה לתלמיד שם כמות נחמדה של כסף כי הייתה על ההנהלה שהם רודפי דולרים. אני לא בטוח בדיוק מה הקטע, כי שמשלמים לבית ספר עבור תקופה מסויימת זה כולל את כל הוצאות האימונים לימודים ומחייה כבר בתוכו, אבל סתם שמעתי עצה שכזאת.

the school at kunyu was started by a shaolin master who used to work at the siping city school, but thought that he could make an even better one himself, and it seems that he succeeded. kunyu may be the most popular place foreigner guys and girls come to learn kung fu in china, and i have heard of those who started at another school, then when they didn't like it they moved to stay at kunyu. in general, i think the kunyu school has the most amount of foreign students at any given time. its in a very beautiful place, on the foot of a mountain close to the sea. there is a very small village near the school, with a bigger town a taxi or bus ride away, and in about an hour drive, a student can get from kunyu to yantai, which is a big modern tourism beach type city with many fun things to do. students of kunyu soemtimes spend weekends at yantai. in order to further their business, the kunyu school administration would like to show off their certificates given to them by the chinese department of education and sports and the department of foreign affairs, but in practice those don't really matter. as with every school, kunyu students stay in china with a tourist's visa, which needs to be renewed every 3 months. perhaps if a student has already stayed for a year, and paid to stay 2 or 3 more, then the administration would start the long complicated process of getting that person an X type student visa, which needs renewing only once a year. most of those training at kunyu do so with a tourist visa however, and since chinese law requires that no tourist stay for more than a year at a time, those who wish to keep going more than a year must leave the mainland for a new visa. for wealthier students that means visiting back home a bit, or taking a ilttle vacation to somewhere, while the rest of the students (including me) usually do a visa run to hong kong to renew our visas there. a student doing a visa run from wudang shan for example, must take busses and trains to shanghai and then to hong kong, and the whole visa run can take almost 3 days of sitting on trains and in lines, but students of kunyu, even without an X visa, may be able to switch the hong kong visa run with a korea visa run, because i believe yantai has a daily ferry across the sea, to see some of korea, renew visa at the chinese embassy, and ferry back the next day.
accomodations of kunyu are nice, like any youth hostel offers. there are a few masters who teach different types of kung fu, and the school offers more than only shaolin forms. it is good to e-mail them asking who teaches what because some may have came and left, but from what i heard the masters where all nice young guys who grew up at the shaolin temple, and among them are those who are more friendly and like to have fun with the students, and those who are more strict and like to work the students to death every day. as every school, the training starts at five a.m until dinnertime in the evening, with running, meditating, practicing forms, fitness workouts, and bringing out the gloves to do some kickboxing. most classes will be with a group of like 15 people, who usually train with a bit of competitiveness. not only do people train fitness harder so to not look weaker than the rest, but also sometimes everyone puts on boxing gloves and step into the ring they have in the training hall to spar. no one will expect a newcommer to step in with a veteran, but in a group there can be people of different levels so the newcommers are motivated to train harder and catch up while the veterans feel they must strive to improve so that they won't get surpassed. during lunch break the students can be very friendly and all jump into the waterfall together laughing, but during training hours its common to see rivalry in their eyes. every school in china will say about itself that their accomodations are nice, but not to expect a luxury hotel, and that their masters are great, and that past students loved it so much that they returned for more, and bla-bla-bla, which is true of every place, thats why those things aren't important when trying to choose a school. a person should choose based on what they want to practice, and in what environment is best for them to be training it. when a person feels good with the training, then all else seems less important, because to train is why they even came to china in the first place right? thats why according to personality, i'd suggest kunyu academy for those who wish for an experience like sports camp, and know about themselves taht they would achieve more being competitive with the other students. usually people there aren't mean to each other, and many become friends with other students and even the matsers, to go hiking together around the mountain, swim together in the water, have dinenr together in the village's restaurant, you know, like that. its just that while training, some get on their tough guy attitudes and take it seriously, working hard to become the best they can, so there can be a feeling of rivalry. even if a big group of friendly smiling newcommers all come in at once, the way training is done at kunyu, and the various people who are tere because they wanna train to kick ass, will usually make the environment feel more competitive than at other schools. some people enjoy it, and should go to kunyu.
if a student still has energy for it in the evning, kunyu academy offers lessons in mandarin, healing, and culture. a past student of kunyu told me that the massage techniques he learned there were very useful to him, but that every accupuncture class taught a different point on the body, so it takes months before you know enough points to be useful. as someone who studied a bit of accupuncture before comming, h saud it did help him a lot to gain a better understanding. this school could be a good place to train and learn and improve a lot and make many memories, but it is not as cheap as other schools are. you should always have some money with you there, because it is rumored that the administration always look for ways to make more money. i don't know exactly how, because the tuition for a certain period of time should cover all classes, training, and accomodation, but tahts just a suggestion i heard.

המקום הזה נוסד על ידי זר שבעברו בא להתאמן קאנג פו בסין ועם הזמן נהיה מאסטר. הוא הקים בית ספר במיוחד לזרים במקום ההכי טוב שמצא עם מומחים לפאנג שוי על אדמה מלאה אנרגיות טובות עם המדריכים הכי טובים שנסע סביב כל המדינה כדי לראיין ועם התנאי מחייה הכי טובים כדי שמי שבא להתאמן בסין אצלו בטוח יצא מרוצה מחווייה טובה. יש בסין בתי ספר בררה שיעבדו על זרים לבוא אליהם בשביל הכסף אבל מצד שני לא ימלאו את מה שהם אמרו שהם מציעים, אז נחמד שבא זר כדי לפתוח כזה מקום במיוחד לזרים שידעו שהם מגיעים לבית ספר טוב. גם לזה יש צד שני אבל, כי מאוד יקר לבוא לדרקון. מי שכן יכול להרשות את זה, ימצא מקום יפהפה משופץ ומאובזר באמצע שמורת טבע עוד יותר יפה. תדמיינו את כל המעיינות האלה בצפון הנגב שראיתם בטיול שנתי, אבל אם מים נקיים זורמים ויערות ירוקים מעל האבן על הגבעות. נחמד כאן שגם רוב הסגל דוברי אנגלית, ושיש חצר עם דשא ומגרש כדורסל ואולם פרקט בפנים וכל מיני כאלה. בטח גם האוכל עם רמה. במשך היום המאסטרים יקראו לכם את הצורה ובמשך הערב אם תרצו אז תוכלו לצאת לטבע עם רופא סיני כדי ללמוד על הכנת תרופות מהצמחייה ושאר שיעורי העשרה שהם מציעים שם. שמעתי מתלמיד לשעבר שעבר מכאן לקוניו שהוא עשה את זה כי בבית ספר הדרקון התרכזו יותר מידי על צורות שאולין לטענתו והוא העדיף מקום להתאמן יותר על לחימה תחרותית. יש הדרכה בסגנונות שאינם שאולין גם כן אבל טבעי שמקום מלא נזירים יאמנו יותר בסגנון שלהם. אני לא בטוח כמה מרחק יש בין הדרקון לעיר הקרובה, שאר שאלות כדאי לשאול ישירת לאי-מייל שלהם והם עונים די מהר. אפילו אם המקום יקר, מי שלא רוצה להסתכן במדינה זרה ורוצה להגיע למקום בטוח כדי להתאמן בראש שקט אני הייתי ממליץ לו על הדרקון.

this place was made by a foreigner who once came to train in chna and became a master. he made this school especially for other foreigners to come to china and be able to train at the best place that he could find with feng shui specialists on land full of good energy, with martial arts masters that he searched for in interviews all around china, and stay at the most comfortable accomodations while they are there. china has many martial arts schools that will say things in order for you to pay them but when you get there you see that they don't really live up to expectations, so it is nice that a foreigner made a school for other foreigners where they can be sure that they are comming to a good school. on the other hand, it is quite an expensive school. people who can afford it will see a nice school with shiny new facilities in a beautiful nature reserve. it can also be nicer at a school where most staff speak english, and the food is also probably quite good. during the day the masters will train you to death, and during the night if you wish to go hiking with the doctor to learn how to make medicines out of the herbs on the mountain rising dragin school offers all the enrichment evening classes. a former student has told that he left rising dragon for kunyu because at the dragon they worked a lot on forms while he was looking for a more combative experience. rising dragon teaches many styles besides just shaolin and many prefer to train peacefully without kickboxing each other every day. any other questions about rising dragon should be e-mailed to them, and they respond quite fast. despite being expensive, i'd recommend rising dragon school for those who don't want to risk a chinese run school and would just like to train with a clear head.

יאנטאי מחנה קאנג פו - yantai kung fu camp

כאן ממש בתוך העיר יאנטאי יש בית ספר שמזמין זרים ללמוד כמה סגנונות של קאנג פו. נראה שהיחס בין תלמידים למדריכים הוא קטן, ולכן כל אחד יכול לקבל צומת לב אישית מהמדריכים שילמדו אותם דברים חדשים ככה אחד-על-אחד. העיר יאנטאי היא עיר חוף יפה מלאה תיירים ובילויים, וגם למרות שקוראים לזה מחנה, המקום מסודר ומטופח לפחות כמו אכנסיה, אם לא אפילו יותר יפה. האולמות וחצרים שבהם מתאמנים גם נראים חדשים ויפים, ונראה שמציעים כאן הרבה סגנונות לפי בחירת התלמיד. הדחף להתאמן ולהשתפר חייב לבוא מהתלמידים, כי שוב למרות השם "מחנה", אף אחד לא יתעקש על התלמידים שיעמדו בשורה כבר אחרי ריצה ומתחיות בחמש בבוקר. כל מה שצריך נמצא שם וכל המדריכים שצריך נמצאים שם וזה על התלמיד לבחור כמה ליהנות מזה, או שמצד שני ליהנות מהחוויה שמציעה החיים בסין והעיר יאנטאי. אני מניח שבגלל זה לא ראיתי באתר שלהם לו"ז ימי או תכנית אימונים. למרות זאת בהחלט ואפשר להתרכז ולהתאמן עם המאסטר שהכי התחברתם אליו ולהשתפר הרבה. לפי אופי יש כאלה שעובדים קשה יותר ככל שנותנים להם יותר חופש גם לבחור שלא להתאמן, אותו הסוג שלא אוהבים ש"מכריחים אותם" ובמקומות אחרים אולי לא היו מסתדרים. הייתי מנחש שטוב להתאמן כאן לתקופה קצרה ותוך כדי חופשה שמטרתה לא רק להתאמן קשה אלא גם קצת ליהנות, אבל מי שרוקם שם מערכת יחסים טובה עם אחד המאסטרים יכול אולי להתאמן שנים כאילו יש מאמן אישי. אני אישית לא ביררתי יותר מידי על יאנטאי כי הם לא מציעים שם שיעורי העשרה, רק אומנויות לחימה כל היום כל השבוע, ואפילו שהמחיר טוב, העדפתי בית ספר שכן מציעה שיעורי העשרה אבל עדיין היה אותו מחיר.

this school is inside the city of yantaiand teaches many different styles of kung fu. i believe the student-teacher ratio is quite small, so that each student gets to be taught new things with a master's attention one on one. the city of yantai is a good looking beach city full of fun things to do, and even though its called a "camp" the school is built very nicely too. the facilities and accomodations all seem to be good. the motivation to train here has to come from the student, because again despite being called a camp, it is acceptable to not be standing in line at five a.m after having run and done warm up stretches. the facilities and equipment and trainers are all there for you, so its your choice to spend more time training or more time enjoying life in yantai. i guess thats why i didn't see a training schedule on the website, but i believe that if a student finds a master they like and train seriously with them every day then much can be achieved. some people work harder when given freedom to choose how to spend their day, the same poeople who would take their training less seriously if things were "forced on them" to do. i'd say that its a good school to come to for short term study, for someone who not just wants to train all day but also enjoy some free time of a chinese vacation. perhaps if someone really clicks with one of the masters, they can maybe even train with them for years like being a personal disciple. i didn't learn too much about the camp, because they don't offer any evening classes, and personally even if the tuition is a good price, i'd rather go to a school with the oppertunity to learn some evening classes but that is still similarly priced
