מסלול חד יומי בפיליפינים ”BOHOL sample tour“
The following tour describes Cebu-Tagbilaran route I`ve done and think would be an easy enough path to follow for those who don`t want to take organized tours to see the Chocolate Hills and Tarsiers. The path can be done the other way as well.
Better start it pretty early in the morning if you wish to do it all in one day.
From Cebu city, pier 3, there are a lot of boats leaving towards Tubigon, price starts at 120-150piso, company dependant. At Tubigon you may take a bus / jeepney to Sagbayan (15p) and hire a motorcyclist from town to see the Sagbayan Peak (15p one way, entrance 10p).
Buses to Carmen from either Tubigon (40 piso) or Sagbayan (20 piso) are abundant until the afternoon. From Carmen town there are about 4km on the road and then some walking to the more famous Chocolate Hills site (entrance 10p). I took another motorcyclist from Carmen town to Chocolate hills and back to the main road (60p with about an hour wait).
Back on the road enough buses will take you to Loboc (30p) where you can see the Tarsier and torment them. They`re cute. From Loboc to Tagbilaran there`re many jeepneys (25p). Many jeepneys from Tagbilaran to Alona Beach (20p). Other places of interest in Bohol you may choose to combine (ask locals about how and what) are a very big fat python which is pretty boring when not eating a whole live pig and some nice caves, pools and waterfalls.
All in all it`s pretty simple and involved almost no walking. I had to do most of the route with too much equipment, but anyway survived. I believe using public transportation will provide you with a more geniue experience at least as much as your Israeli sense will be happy to know you spent a lot less than on an organized tour. Enjoy the nice people of the Philippines!
