When going on a rikshaw trip do not negotiate the price with the driver. Ask a few locals what a reasonable price should be and take the rikshaw. Once you`ve reached your destination pay the guy the money you should or add a bit if you liked the effort. If the price is right, most drivers wouldn`t say anything. Some may try to charge you more and in this case you just say thanks and walk away, not arguing. If they really come back after you to complain there may be a good reason so find a local who seems not biased and ask again stating where you came from and he`ll usually be on your side.

This should save you a lot of headache and negotiating the price two times and rikshaws trying to pull most of their tricks.

Another way, if you`re unsure, is to state the price you`ll pay, preferably in Hindi. In my opinion, the first way is better and will save you energy in playing the games of negotiation.
